What is LPU – eFLEX?
LPU – eFLEX is an acronym which stands for Leveraging Platforms Utilization for Enhanced Flexible Learning Experience. It is an innovative and flexible system that combines various learning delivery modes including synchronous and asynchronous instructions in order to enhance the existing digital operating systems of LPU Davao with the goal of further improving the quality of learning experience of students in AY 2020-2021.
Why is there a need for LPU-eFLEX?
LPU-eFLEX is being implemented by LPU Davao because of the need to continue its mission to provide educational services amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Face-to-face classes pose a great risk to LPU Davao students, faculty and staff due to the current pandemic. LPU-eFLEX is the best alternative to face-to-face classes. It is compliant with the health protocols established by national and local government authorities.
When will LPU-eFLEX be implemented?
LPU-eFLEX will be implemented in Academic Year 2020-2021.
What are included in the LPU-eFLEx?
The LPU-eFLEx includes all the levelled-up (leveraged) platforms (computers, gadgets, online accounts, LMS, institutional operating, organizational and financial systems) for full usage (utilization). All these are the basic components to enhance the flexible learning experiences of the studentry, as well as the capabilities of the institution to sustain its lead in educational innovations.
What are the basic components in the implementation of the LPU-eFLEx?
The basic components for the implementation of the LPU-eFLEx are actually embedded in the learning continuity plans of the department existing. It is enhanced to respond to the specific needs of the learners and the teachers as well, and to support them in the best and reasonable way possible. Some components can be materials (computers, laptops, gadgets), connectivity, and the inspiring environment that could motivate them to achieve their aspirations.
How will the LPU-eFlex be implemented in the Junior College Curriculum?
All the guidelines for the implementation of the LPU-eFLEx for teaching and learning are particularly and precisely discussed in the Flexible Learning System guidelines , to enrich, equip and engage the faculty, students , parents, and other stakeholders.
LPU-DAVAO JUNIOR COLLEGE FLEXIBLE LEARNING SYSTEM GUIDELINES
System 1: With Internet Connection
GENERAL GUIDE
- The teacher generates the course lessons and formative assessments through Quipper Learning Management System.
- The leaner at home connects to the internet, accesses Quipper LMS and finishes Quipper activities in the course content through Q-Learn. Q-Learn is the learners’ site for learning topics and answering assignments or assessments.
- Both teacher and learners connect to Microsoft Teams or Zoom for virtual guided instructions/ classes.
- Video conference sessions may be recorded and uploaded in Quipper or Microsoft Teams, for use as reference by students who are unable to join the session or with disrupted internet connection.
- Teacher’s consultation, assistance and feedback are available via Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Facebook messenger, or calls/SMS.
- Formative and Summative Assessments are done through Quipper and/or Microsoft Teams.

MODE OF INSTRUCTION
Synchronous Learning
- Video conference sessions through Microsoft Teams or Zoom
- Live instructional videos
- Remote lab activities
Asynchronous Learning
- Quipper assignment or activities
- Online learning modules
- Recorded instructional presentations (videos and slideshow)
- Peer-to-peer support
- Collaborative documents in the cloud
Note: For disrupted or unstable internet connection, Quipper lessons/ study guides can be downloaded so that learners can still continue learning offline.
ASSESSMENT
- Major examinations are given as scheduled through alternative forms (Quipper, Problem-based type, Case Study, Project-based type, research, video-related outputs, etc.) that are aligned with Higher Order Thinking Skills.
- Coursework may be given during online classes so that the students are not too loaded with assignments after the class. Flexible schedule will be followed.
- Assessment/activities are streamlined through the Department’s Applied Inter-Disciplinary Approach – Performance Task or AIA-PT. If the teacher is handling the students in more than one subject, they may consider giving them one project for all the teacher’s subjects with them. Similarly, the teacher may also collaborate with other faculty members so that assessments may measure more than one competency/skill.
- Proposal Defense is conducted online following the rules of face-to-face Research Defense.
- All requirements given online will be evaluated and graded.
- Assessments will be used to give feedback to students about their learning progress.
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE
- A planned schedule of classes is prepared suitable for both synchronous and asynchronous approach. Half of the day is intended for guided instruction and other half is intended for self-paced learning / individualized instruction and/or peer-to-peer support. However, the schedule of classes maybe arranged depending upon the mode of instruction. Teachers will be available in assisting and giving feedback of the learners’ course activities through online or calls/SMS.
THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR THE PARENTS
- Your child’s online activity will be monitored and given feedback promptly through Quipper and e-mail; of which, the parents may be able to access thru the parent’s portal.
- Your child’s grades will be accessible online once the system encodes it.
- Step-by-step guides on how to access these Quipper and AIMS portals will be given during the “virtual parent’s orientation”, as well as, through helpdesk support. Guidance on how to navigate online tools, curriculum and instruction will also be discussed during the orientation.
- Due to the high volume of students, we encourage parents to help their child monitor their studies and activities.
- We highly encourage parents to kindly leave their active contact number(s) upon enrollment. This is to ensure that the advisers, as well as, the subject teachers will be able to contact you if the student fails to comply with various assessments/ tasks.

System 2: With Weak or No Internet Connection
GENERAL GUIDE
- The learner receives the Learning Package through E-mail or USB through pick-up.
- The learner at home completes all the assessment, activities or task in the Learning Package.
- The learner submits completed assessment, activities or tasks via E-mail or dispatch on a scheduled submission.
- Teacher’s consultation and assistance are available via Microsoft Outlook, Facebook messenger, or calls/SMS.
