Featured LPU Davao Employee of the Month: Mr. Alberto S. Posadas
Mr. Alberto S. Posadas and his family grew up in the province where they lived a simple life.
As Sir Bert shared, “My parents have ten children-three girls and seven boys. My father, the late Cornelio B. Posadas Sr. was a disciplinarian and instilled in our younger minds the value of education. That philosophy guided us to pursue our individual careers in our lives.”
Their family is made up of different professionals. Their eldest, Justice Loida Posadas-Kahulugan is now with the Court of Appeals, and her daughter is also a lawyer, Atty. Bea Posadas Kahulugan. His other brother, Dr. Eduardo S. Posadas, is the Provincial Health Officer in San Fernando, La Union, Region I, while their youngest, Dr. Nicanor S. Posadas is a Dentist in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, married to Dr. Cynthia Lozada-Posadas. As per Sir Bert, their life in the coastal town of Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat was struggling but a happy one. In their younger years, they have to assist their parents in their livelihood activities while studying during high school days.
“Modesty aside, I was a second honor student during my elementary days but received no honors in high school. Then in college, I landed in the Honors class and became a MASICAP scholar in my 4th year. MASICAP is a program of the Department of Trade and Industry and CHED where we were exposed to do field work assignments all over the country assisting various proponents doing project feasibility studies for their projects. Substantially, this program of the government still exists today.”
After Sir Alberto passed the CPA examination, he started his career in various multinational companies starting from a pharmaceutical and consumer products distribution company, to flat steel manufacturing company and ended up in a construction company. His area of expertise is Internal Audit which dwells more on the Operations Review, Evaluation of Internal Controls and Risk Assessment. For Sir Alberto S. Posadas, “Financial audit is done on a cycle basis.”
When asked about his struggles and achievements during his studies, he recalled, “One greatest challenge I have encountered is studying while working. Discipline becomes an integral part of your everyday life. This is enhanced by time management as well as financial administration. I was a recipient of the Marsman Foundation Scholarship program for my MBA course from Colegio de San Juan de Letran. After sometime, I pursued my law degree during weekends while being assigned in Balayan, Batangas for the weekdays.”
As per Sir Alberto S. Posadas, “Being a full-time instructor in an academe is challenging yet fulfilling in the sense that you can impart and share your knowledge to the learners who are leaders of tomorrow. Acknowledging what they learned from you is rewarding and creates a sense of actualization as a person. Being part of the prestigious LPU Davao family is an opportunity for me to improve, relate to professional people and interact with the students.”
“To all students of LPU Davao, be thankful to your parents and family members for their support to your studies. Study well on your own initiative. Be resilient in your academic journey and you can surpass this period of pandemic by taking care of yourself and being safe always”
Mr. Alberto S. Posadas always believes in “Honesty, integrity, hard work and respect for others.”
